MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) launched its official research portal, E-Saliksik, on Monday to advance access to quality research in the country.

In a Facebook live video, DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said the research platform will contribute to quality data and help address the lack of salient resources needed for policy formulation.

“We cannot be formulating major decisions which affect not only our learners, but also the entire country, in terms of politics, in terms of economics, in terms of societal development, just on the basis of guesswork, feelings, or intuition,” Briones said.

She pointed out that it is not only important to do research but also to translate it to lessons and community works.

“An open access to DepEd’s growing research collection through this platform that we are now setting up is of great help and we’ll do much to lower barriers to research availability in exchange and make way for innovations that would ultimately improve the lives of our learners,” she added.

E-Saliksik encourages the use of information-driven research from school research up to the national level.

Pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No. 11, Series of 2022, E-Saliksik is under the Planning Service-Policy Research and Development Division in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology.

It will be the central database for research and will provide evidence-based information. (PNA)
