Special vax days in VisMin regions reach 60% target

MANILA – The special vaccination days in some regions of the Visayas and Mindanao last week have reached 60 percent of its target population, a health official said Friday.

The government held a vaccination drive in Cebu from March 29 to 31 and in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) from March 30 to April 1.

In a Palace briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said a total of 32,826 persons had been vaccinated in Cebu province, about 42,986 in the Davao Region; 1,621 in Soccsksargen; and 12,606 in BARMM.

As of March 30, the national Covid-19 vaccination dashboard showed a total of 7,014,727 doses of Covid-19 have been administered in Central Visayas; 5,404,366 in the Davao Region; 3,823,094 in Soccsksargen; and 1,467,157 in BARMM.

"About 65.9 million of our fellowmen are fully vaccinated as of March 31, 2022. This is 73 percent of our targeted population," Vergeire said.

A total of 71.2 million individuals or 79 percent of the target population have received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine.

Out of the 44 million fully vaccinated, about 12 million have received their booster shots.

For the pediatric population, about 933,000 are fully vaccinated.

Some 8.9 million of the adolescent population got inoculated. (PNA)
