MANILA — Successful bar examinees may sign the roll of attorneys regionally instead of just in the Supreme Court (SC) premises in Manila, the tribunal said.

A full-fledged lawyer is required to sign the roll of attorneys after passing the bar and taking the oath.

In a notice, the high court said the roll signing shall be conducted regionally in the National Capital Region (NCR) and Luzon at the SC compound in Manila from May 4 to 24 and June 6 to 17.

In the Visayas, bar passers may sign at the IBP building in Cebu City from May 30 to June 3.

In Mindanao, from May 26 to 28, the signing of the roll will be held at the Hall of Justice in Cagayan de Oro City.

As in previous years, successful examinees are allowed to have a maximum of two guests and are required to wear formal attire and face mask inside the venue. Those who opt to wear their national costumes will be permitted.

A total of 8,241, or 72.28 percent of 11,402 examinees, passed the bar examination held last February, the first since the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic in March 2020.

It was also the first localized bar examination held in various sites, and the first that adopted digital means as examinees brought their own laptops in 29 local testing centers nationwide. (PNA)
