MANILA – The national government is finalizing the details of the donation of Russian-made Sputnik V Covid-19 jabs to Myanmar, the Department of Health (DOH) said Wednesday.

In a message to reporters, the DOH confirmed that the meeting between the Myanmar National Red Cross and the concerned government agencies proceeded on Tuesday.

"Processes and legal instruments were discussed in preparation for the donation. Other matters cannot be disclosed at this point as we are still in the process of finalizing the details," it said.

Earlier, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the country will donate over five million doses of Sputnik V to the neighboring Southeast Asian nation.

Clearances from the Commission on Audit and the Department of Budget and Management are needed before the DOH could proceed with the donation, she added. (PNA)
