3 Zambo athletes bag bronze medals in 31st SEA Games

ZAMBOANGA CITY – Three Zamboangueño athletes who are part of the Philippine contingent seeing action in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games each bagged bronze medals in their respective sports events.

Dr. Cecilia Atilano, city sports development officer, said Tuesday Clemente Tabugara, Jefferson Rhey Loon, and Kristine Paraon won bronze medals in wushu, pencak silat, and rowing competitions,  respectively.

The three are among the 23 Zamboangueño athletes participating in the ongoing SEA Games.

Hidilyn Diaz and Eumir Felix Marcial, who won gold and bronze medals in weightlifting and boxing, respectively, in the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, are among the Zamboangueño athletes seeing action in the SEA Games.

Meanwhile, Atilano said Zamboangueño athletes who won medals in the 31st SEA Games will get cash incentives from the city government.

They will get PHP250,000 for a gold medal, PHP200,000 for silver, and PHP150,000 for bronze.

Each coach will also receive a 50 percent cash incentive as a counterpart to the winning athletes’ prize.

The 31st SEA Games, which kicked off May 12 and ends on May 23, is held in Hanoi, Vietnam. (PNA)
