MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – Two students of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) have each received PHP100,000 as an incentive for topping the board examinations.

In a statement, PSU said Thomas Jefferson Fernando of the PSU Asingan campus and engineer Jason Mejia of PSU Urdaneta City campus got the cash incentive.

Fernando ranked third in the January 2022 licensure examination for teachers, while Mejia ranked third in the May 2022 licensure examination for civil engineers.

“Passing a board examination is a formidable feat and topping these licensure tests is an achievement extraordinaire,” PSU president Dr. Dexter Buted said.

The PSU gives cash incentives to their students who made it to the top 10 of the Professional Regulations Commission (PRC)-sanctioned examinations through the Board Topnotchers Awards.

“Fernando and Mejia expressed their gratitude to PSU for the cash incentives that would greatly help their families,” it read.

“The awarding of cash incentives aims to instill inspiration to students and faculty members of board programs to excel academically and to do their best in preparing for the licensure examinations,” it added. (PNA)
