DAVAO CITY – Dabawenyos will soon enjoy more public parks here as the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) said three recreational parks will be completed before yearend.

“The city's total area is huge, and this is why we were pushing for more public parks in various spots. Residents in every area or district can have easy access to recreational parks to enjoy with their families and friends,” said CENRO Chief Engr. Marivic Reyes on Friday.

The projects are located in Barangays Los Amigos, Communal, and 76-A Bucana with budgets of PHP26 million, PHP12 million, and PHP8.9-million, respectively. These will add to the 22 existing public parks in the city.

CENRO said they intend to synchronize the opening of the three public parks to the bigger park project in Doña Vicenta Village.

The Doña Vicenta Village park holds the title of CENRO's largest green space development project with a budget allocation of PHP82.6M. Its current completion status is at 65 percent.

Reyes noted that the city is still studying more areas to be developed as public parks, including a proposed greenway park along Roxas Avenue and the vicinity of the coastal road.

“The development of these public parks is in line with the local government’s bid to make Davao City more livable and accommodating to children and their families,” she said.

The parks are strategically placed in the heart of some of the most populous districts here, in line with the city’s comprehensive development for Dabawenyos to have equal access to public recreational amenities. (PNA)
