MANILA – The low pressure area (LPA) being monitored by the weather bureau will bring rains over parts of Luzon and the Visayas on Thursday.

In its bulletin issued at 8 a.m., the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said the LPA was last spotted 145 kilometers north of Borongan City, Eastern Samar.

This will bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region. and the provinces of Northern Samar, Quezon, Aurora, and Isabela. Flash floods and landslides are possible due to moderate to at times heavy rains.

"The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical cyclone, but it will bring rains, especially in the eastern section of the Visayas and Luzon," PAGASA forecaster Samuel Duran said.

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have isolated rain showers caused by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms.

The temperature could reach a maximum of 32 °C in Metro Manila, the Kalayaan Islands and the cities of Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Tuguegarao, and Laoag.

In the Visayas and Mindanao, the temperature could reach 32 °C in the cities of Iloilo, Cebu, Zamboanga and Davao.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago. (PNA)
