BUTUAN CITY – Agusan del Sur Gov. Santiago Cane Jr. issued an executive order (EO) Thursday placing the province under Alert Level 1 for the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) response.

The EO came after the recommendation from the Inter-Agency Task Force to place the province under Alert Level 1 from Alert Level 2, given that transmissions of Covid-19 cases in the area are on a decline.

“The provincial government of Agusan del Sur has been implementing measures to fortify the preventive response of the province against the Covid-19 virus,” Cane said.

Data from the provincial health office indicated that as of June 28, Agusan del Sur only has seven remaining active Covid-19 cases.

As a general guideline under the EO, all residents in the province are directed to follow protocols, such as the wearing of face masks at all times whether inside or outside of establishments, or in public transportations.

The EO also requires residents to observe physical distancing, the use of the province’s QR (quick response) generator and validator for contact tracing, and other health measures that will help mitigate the spread of the virus.

Private offices and workplaces, government agencies, and instrumentalities are allowed to operate at 100 percent capacity consistent with the compliance of vaccination requirements on onsite work.

Also, residents aged 18 and above shall be required to present proof of full vaccination before participation in mass gatherings and entry to indoor establishments.

Children aged 17 and below will not be required to present proof of full vaccination, the EO said. (PNA)
