CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) 3 (Central Luzon) has brought e-learning technologies to remote public schools in Bataan to make multimedia learning accessible.

Twenty-five sets of individualized interactive multimedia learning, also known as e-tablets, were given to nine schools located in the municipalities of Orani, Orion, Hermosa, Dinalupihan, Mariveles, Bagac, and Pilar.

The electronic device is pre-installed with interactive lessons in various subjects, such as Science, Mathematics, and English, and can be used even without an Internet connection.

Each school received television-based interactive multimedia teaching tools of a unit of Smart TV and a microserver set-top box containing thousands of lessons and exercises aligned with the Department of Education’s K12 curriculum.

Meanwhile, three other schools in Bataan were recipients of both TV-based and tablet-based e-learning technologies – the Bangkal Elementary School in Abucay, Balut Elementary School in Pilar, and Palili Integrated School in Samal.

The distribution of the e-learning devices was made possible through the expanded implementation of the Community Empowerment through Science and Technology (CEST) program and the DOST-3’s Regional Grants-in-Aid (GIA) program.

DOST-3 Director Julius Caesar Sicat said Friday that the electronic device is especially suited in areas where access to the Internet is either low or none.

To ensure that the learners get the maximum benefit out of the e-learning technologies, Sicat said teachers from the recipient schools were given proper training and orientation on the use of the gadgets for classroom instruction. (PNA)
