DUMAGUETE CITY – Police operatives here and the province of Negros Oriental arrested on Monday two suspected drug pushers and seized close to PHP2-million worth of suspected shabu in a sting operation in Barangay Bagacay.
The suspects were identified as Jovic Calibo Nano, 24, from Lanao Del Norte, and of Cang-Alwang, Siquijor in Siquijor province; and Janjan Banaldia, 21, of Purok Gumamela in Barangay Bagacay.
Both were arrested during a buy-bust around 12:48 a.m. by local police authorities in Region 7, in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
Lt. Col. Joeson Parallag, Dumaguete police chief, said one of the suspects, Nano, is a “high-value individual” who recently arrived here.
“He is relatively new here, just about a week since he arrived, but we were able to monitor his activities immediately and planned out an operation against him,” Parallag said in mixed English and Cebuano.
Seized during the operation were, among others, plastic sachets of different sizes containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu, with a total weight of 280.56 grams.
The estimated street drug price of the “shabu” was pegged at a little more than PHP1.9 million.
The suspects will be charged with the violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act. (PNA)
