Agusan Sur active Covid-19 cases now at 105

BUTUAN CITY – Agusan del Sur posted 12 new coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections as of Thursday (August 4, 2022), bringing the province's active cases to 105.

In an update Thursday, the Provincial Health Office (PHO) said the new cases brought the total cumulative number of infections to 16,347 since the pandemic broke out over two years ago.

“Of the 105 active infections, 93 are considered locally transmitted while 12 are with close contact or exposure to persons positive with Covid-19,” PHO said.

A total of 15,805 recoveries were also recorded in the province as of August 4 with 437 Covid-19-related deaths, it said.

“The 16,347 cumulative number of cases represent 2.16 percent of the population of Agusan del Sur while the remaining active cases are 0.64 percent of the total number of infections in the province,” it added.

The localities with a high number of infections include San Francisco town with 3,011 confirmed cases; Prosperidad with 2,582; Bayugan City with 2,351; Rosario with 1,282; and Esperanza with 1,213.

Agusan del Sur is currently under Alert Level 1 until August 15. (PNA)
