LEGAZPI CITY – Two suspects were arrested while over PHP13 million worth of shabu were seized in an anti-drug operation in Naga City, the Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO5) said Friday.

Lt. Col. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, PRO-5 spokesperson, said more or less 2 kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of PHP13.6 million were confiscated during the operation that was conducted on Thursday.

"The buy-bust operation on Thursday evening at Diversion Road, Zone 5, Barangay Tabuco in Naga City resulted in the arrest of spouses Nelynn Tobias, 40, and Ernan Tobias, 45, of Sitio Uno, Patimbao, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The undercover police and the confidential informant (CI) were able to buy from the suspects one piece of a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing more or less 500 grams of shabu worth PHP1.1 million," Calubaquib said in an interview.

She said another two pieces of self-sealed transparent plastic containing more or less 1,500 grams of shabu were also seized from the suspects during a body search, and search of the vehicle used by the suspects.

"Also confiscated from the suspects were the plastic containing the marked money, gray sling bag containing one unit Taurus caliber 9mm pistol inserted with a magazine with four live ammunitions, and wallet containing assorted identification cards of Nelynn Tobias," she added.

Calubaquib said the arrested drug personalities are now under custody and will face criminal charges for violating Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
