TACLOBAN CITY – At least 206 families or 866 individuals in Calbayog City, Samar whose houses were razed by fire last week received financial assistance from national and local officials.

Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan and Samar Rep. Stephen James Tan (1st district) on Monday extended PHP20,000 financial assistance to each family affected by the fire that burned 174 houses in two villages of Calbayog City on April 18.

Officials held a ceremonial distribution at the Calbayog Sports Center.

One was killed while 206 families were left homeless when fire hit several houses in Barangays Carmen and Obrero.

“We always need to look at the brighter side. At least no one died during the incident. I hope that you will use this cash assistance for rebuilding your homes,” the governor said.
Senators Christopher “Bong” Go and Ronald “Bato” De la Rosa also extended aid to fire victims. (PNA)
