PhilCycling nat’l championships slated June 27-30 in Tagaytay

MANILA – More than 700 riders are set to join the National Championships for Road starting on June 27 in Tagaytay City, Cavite.

Events on tap are criterium, individual time trials and road races.

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino, also head of PhilCycling, will flag off the first criterium race at 8 a.m at the start/finish arch fronting the Praying Hands monument along Isaac Tolentino Avenue in Tagaytay City.

The annual four-day tournament, co-presented by Standard Insurance and the MVP Sports Foundation and supported by Chooks-to-Go and Excellent Noodles, serves as one of the criteria for the evaluation and selection of members of the national men's and women's road teams.

The POC, Philippine Sports Commission, 7-Eleven and CCN are also supporting the championships in cooperation with Tagaytay City, Eighth District of Cavite, First District of Batangas, City of Calaca and the Municipalities of Nasugbu, Tuy, Balayan, Agoncillo, Laurel and Lian, as well as the Philippine National Police and Batangas Red Cross.

The ITT races which are calendared by the International Cycling Union and sanctioned by the Asian Cycling Confederation will follow on Wednesday, the individual road race for the women’s categories on Thursday and the men’s division road race on Friday.

Races will be in the men and women Youth (under 16), Juniors (17-18), under 23 and Elite categories. (PNA)
