MANILA – The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) continues its search and rescue (SAR) operations for six missing crew members after their boat sank off Baganga, Davao Oriental last June 22.

In an update on Monday, the PCG said its district office in southeastern Mindanao would continue the SAR operations for the missing crew members of the fishing boat Genesis 2.

On the other hand, the 14 surviving crew members have been brought to Barangay Calumpang in General Santos City aboard the fishing boat Ryan Romuald 88 on June 25.

“Kasama rin nila ang tatlong crew na binawian ng buhay dahil sa paglubog ng kanilang bangkang pangisda 182 nautical miles (NM) sa Baganga (They were with the three crew members who died after their fishing boat sank 182 NM off Baganga),” the PCG update said.

Ogdi Fishing Company, the operator of the sunken fishing boat, has coordinated with the families of those who died and has brought their remains to the nearest funeral home.

Genesis 2 sank with 23 crew members on board due to a sea mishap brought on by a sudden change in sea conditions, according to its rescued crew on June 22.

The 14 survivors were rescued by fishing boats within the area. (PNA)
