ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Army’s 11th Infantry Division (ID) has assured it would work for the peaceful conduct of the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) in Sulu province.

Maj. Gen. Ignatius Patrimonio, 11ID and Joint Task Force (JTF) - Sulu commander, made the assurance Tuesday as he urged law enforcement agencies, security forces, and concerned stakeholders to closely coordinate among themselves.

The BSKE is set to be held on Oct. 30 this year with state security forces, as well as the Commission on Elections (Comelec) preparing for the conduct of the political exercise.

“By working together, sharing expertise, and fostering cooperation, we can create an environment that upholds the principles of democracy, promotes peace, and safeguard the will of the people,” Patrimonio said in a statement. “Rest assured that the 11ID and JTF Sulu will continue to deliver excellent services to prevent conflict and promote sustainable peace.”

He noted that the May 9, 2022 national and local elections in Sulu were the most peaceful in the history of the province.

The 11ID, which is based in Sulu, was activated on Dec. 17, 2018 and tasked to fight the Islamic State-inspired terrorist group in the area. It has three infantry brigades under its command with troops spread across the province. (PNA)
