CEBU CITY – Central Visayas’ Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board rallied behind the move of the Department of Tourism to keep the “Love the Philippines” campaign despite the recent controversy that beset the agency.

Eduardo Montealto Jr., LTFRB-Region 7 director said the transport sector in the region supports DOT’s campaign citing it as an inclusive platform for safety and convenience for foot tourists and backpackers who ride the mass transport system.

Montealto said the transport sector here finds the issue surrounding the production of the slogan’s audio-visual presentation negligible as compared to the enormous contribution to the safety of visitors taking modern jeepneys and taxis in exploring the region’s wonders.

“Traveling guests’ safety and convenience are a hallmark of a successful tourism industry initiative inspired by the thrusts of the Department of Tourism (DOT) to promote ‘love’ of the countryside as a potential destination for foot tourists and backpackers,” he said.

Montealto said under the "Love the Philippines" slogan, the DOT, LTFRB-7, and local government units in Central Visayas work together in rolling out modern PUJs that will cater to both tourists and workers in the tourism sector.

Tourist Transport Services, he added, are also working with the agency in ensuring the safety of visitors who are visiting Cebu, Bohol, Negros Oriental and Siquijor in group tours. (PNA)
