Bulgaria's ancient treasures featured at seminar

SOFIA, Bulgaria – A seminar on "Bulgaria's Ancient Treasures" was held as part of the National Programme for Development of Bulgarian Studies Abroad, funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Institute for Balkan Studies with Centre for Thracology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS) said on its website.

The seminar was held at the Slaveykov Hall of the Institut Francaise in Sofia and featured Thracologist Prof. Valeria Fol as special guest lecturer.

Prof. Fol spoke of the remarkable gold and silver vessels, jewellery, arms and other artefacts comprising the best-known treasures of exceptional artistry and historical value discovered on the territory of what is now Bulgaria, including the ones from Borovo, Valchitran, Panagyurishte and Rogozen, among others.

French Ambassador here Joel Myer, Egypt's Ambassador in Sofia Khalid Ibrahim Emara, the Director of the State Cultural Institute with the Foreign Minister Snezhana Yoveva-Dimitrova, the Scientific Secretary for Cultural and Historical Heritage at BAS, Assoc. Prof. Elka Traikova, diplomats, academics and students, were among the attendees. (BTA)
