C. Visayas police seizes P14-M ‘shabu’ in week-long operations

CEBU CITY – Over PHP14 million worth of suspected shabu were seized during the weeklong ng anti-criminality operations of the different police units in Central Visayas.

PRO-7 chief, Brig. Gen. Anthony Aberin, said Tuesday that the regional police confiscated over two kilos of shabu with a standard drug price of PHP14,002,968 and arrested 126 suspects in Cebu, Bohol, and Negros Oriental in their operations from Sept. 5 to 11.

Aberin cited the guidance of the Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr., and the “Buhay Ingatan, Droga'y Ayawan” anti-illegal drug program of Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary in intensifying their efforts.

Aside from illegal drugs, the police also arrested 184 suspects in anti-illegal gambling operations and seized PHP21,049.00 in gambling money.

In their intensified search for wanted persons, they arrested 106 people with arrest warrants, with 13 identified as “most wanted.”

At least 174 unlicensed firearms were seized and 160 ammunition of different calibers were confiscated which resulted in the arrest of 12 suspects.

The latest arrest was in Upper Sto. Niño, Barangay Dao, Tagbilaran City in Bohol after the provincial police and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Bohol on Monday night collared 38-year-old Roger Niluag who yielded to authorities 11 packs of suspected shabu worth PHP374,000.

The 126 drug personalities arrested are facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (PNA)
