UE bags V-League Collegiate Challenge bronze medal

MANILA – The University of the East outplayed the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, 28-26, 25-23, 25-23, to secure the bronze medal in the women's division of the 2023 V-League Collegiate Challenge at the Paco Arena in Manila on Wednesday.

Outside hitter Casiey Monique Dongallo led the Lady Warriors with 20 attacks, one block, and one ace, while middle blocker Riza Nogales came up with nine attacks and five blocks.

"This is important for the self-esteem of the ladies. Having practiced for just two months, they performed admirably. I observed improvements not only at the individual level but also as a team throughout this V-League season," assistant coach Obet Vital said.

Skipper Kizzie Madriaga only scored two points but had 18 excellent sets, while Mary Christine Escalla and Jenina Marie Zeta made 10 and seven digs, respectively.

Mary Rhose Dapol and Shaila Allaine Omipon delivered 13 points each for the Lady Altas. Dapol had 10 attacks, two aces, and one block to go with eight digs and four receptions.

Libero Marian Tracy Andal produced 15 excellent digs and nine receptions. (PNA)
