223 Misamis Occidental micro rice retails get P4.6-M cash aid

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – At least 223 micro rice traders in Misamis Occidental province on Tuesday received PHP4.6 million worth of cash assistance from the government as part of the implementation of Executive Order (EO) No. 39.

The beneficiaries from Tudela town received PHP15,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development under the Sustainable Livelihood Program.

Misamis Occidental Governor Henry Oaminal added PHP6,000 counterpart from the provincial government, totaling PHP21,000 aid for each recipient.

"We all have one government. You can see the collaboration in the national government agencies and your local government," Oaminal said.

Under EO 39, rice retailers are mandated to sell regular-milled rice at PHP41 per kilogram and PHP45 per kilogram for well-milled rice.

Meanwhile, 1,430 residents of Bonifacio town in the same province, also benefited from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program amounting to PHP9 million.

The cash aid also aims to sustain the needs of the poor and vulnerable residents of the town, whose welfare is among the concerns of the municipality led by Acting Mayor Ricky Bulahan.

Each beneficiary received PHP3,000 cash assistance. (PNA)
