BACOLOD CITY – Filipino world billiards champions Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante will headline an exhibition match during the 2nd Mayor Albee Benitez 10-ball Billiards Tournament at the Main Atrium of SM City Bacolod on Oct. 8 to 12.

The five-day competition is one of the 10 sports events for the 44th MassKara Festival that will kick off on Oct. 6.

Reyes will not see action this year, but Bustamante will compete anew against the country’s top billiards players before the Bacolodnon fans.

Tournament organizer Bacolod Yuhum Foundation said it has yet to finalize the date of the Reyes-Bustamante face-off.

“Reyes will not be competing but will have exhibition games with billiards’ fans, including a face-off with Mayor Alfredo Abelardo Benitez on the last day of the competition,” it said in a statement on Wednesday.

Last year, Reyes bowed out on the fourth day of the competition after losing to 15-year-old AJ Manas.

In the tournament’s first edition, former Guinness world champion Jundel Mazon bested more than 120 players to win the title and bring home PHP350,000 in cash prize.

Other sports events scheduled during the 44th MassKara Festival include beach volleyball, badminton, table tennis, football, tchoukball, bike riding, golf, BMX racing and skateboarding, and a marathon. (PNA)
