MANILA – RSG Philippines put an end to Echo's sizzling start to its Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines campaign after a 2-0 sweep on Sunday night at the Shooting Gallery Studios in Makati City.

The win did not just seal a playoff berth for RSG PH but also snapped a history-repeating streak for Echo.

Entering the game with an immaculate 11-0 record, Echo had a golden opportunity to draw first blood against RSG PH in their second-round meeting as they surged ahead to a huge lead in Game 1.

However, RSG PH's defense held forth and secured two crucial lord kills that set up their huge comeback to eventually steal the best-of-three tie opener.

Echo, seemingly learning its lessons after blowing up late in Game 1, focused on securing the crunch time moments in their Game 2 draft, but RSG PH quickly pounced on Echo early into the rematch and called game after nearly 19 minutes.

Echo's 11-game winning streak to start the 12th season matched the longest winning streak in MPL Philippines, which Blacklist International first set during Season 8.

But instead of breaking the tie, Echo will now have to try to build a new streak on Friday when they take on Minana Evos.

In the other ties, Smart Omega eliminated TNC from playoff contention with a 2-0 win, while AP Bren also blanked Minana, 2-0, to join Echo and RSG PH in the postseason play.

Moonton extends help in Pasig River drive

Meanwhile, Moonton Games, the developer of MLBB, extended its help in bringing back the old prestige of the Pasig River during the esports title's seventh-anniversary celebration on Saturday night.

Moonton announced during the anniversary event which took place just below the Binondo-Intramuros Bridge that it is donating 150 plants to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) as part of its contribution to the greenification of the waterway that connects Manila Bay to Laguna De Bay.

Moonton placed the plants inside a mystery box that was seen floating just below the bridge for the past week, but on Saturday, the plants were formally turned over to the DENR with Raphael Torres, the public relations officer of DENR-NCR, receiving the plants from Moonton marketing manager Chai Gutierrez.

"Pasig River is going legendary. We're so pleased and excited to be working with Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Philippines in building and rebuilding a community that promotes social interaction and responsibility," Torres said.

Gutierrez called on all the gamers to not just support Moonton's cause but also help in preserving the Pasig River.

"MLBB Anniversaya is our way of celebrating our seventh year in the Philippines by giving back to the community. We hope to remind our Filipino gamers that they can be heroes in-game or in the real world, by taking small steps in taking care of our environment," Gutierrez said. (PNA)
