MANILA – Members of the anti-scalawag unit of the Philippine National Police (PNP) arrested two police officers wanted for various charges in operations in the provinces of Cagayan and Rizal.

In a report on Thursday, Brig. Gen. Warren de Leon, PNP Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group chief, said Pat. Adrian France Balderas, was arrested on Oct. 5 while undergoing a Basic Internal Security Operations Course training inside Camp Marcelo Adduru in Tuguegarao City, for violation of Republic Act (RA) 9262 (Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act of 2004).

Balderas has an arrest warrant by the Isabela Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 23 due to psychological abuse which stemmed from the complaint of his former girlfriend whose name was withheld.

The victim said the abuse took place when Balderas was undergoing field training in Cauayan City, Isabela in 2021.

The accused is now temporarily detained at Tuguegarao City Police Station.

Meanwhile, de Leon said Cpl. Jayvee Rommel Vicencio, 29, who went absent without official leave (AWOL), was arrested for murder on Oct. 9 in Rodriguez, Rizal.

Vicencio is wanted for murder by the Caloocan City Regional Trial Court Branch 223 for the killing of his fellow police officer, Pat. Jefferson Valencia on July 4, 2022.

Investigation showed that the victim was invited by a woman to her house in Bagumbong, Caloocan City when the suspect chanced upon him, which resulted in a fistfight.

The victim opted to leave the area but the motorcycle riding suspect followed him and shot him six times while he was inside his car on Clamor Avenue in Barangay 171, Caloocan City. (PNA)
