TACLOBAN CITY – A couple and their 7-year-old son were killed while their 4-year-old daughter was seriously injured after a car side-swept their motorcycle along a highway in Basey, Samar late Sunday.

In a report released by the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday, a car heading to this city was overtaking a slow-moving vehicle and accidentally hit a motorcycle with four passengers in Barangay Iba.

Ronnie Nuevas, 28, his live-in partner Joyce Cadaingan, 32, and their son died on the spot because of multiple head injuries.

The daughter was seriously injured.

The car's driver is already in police custody and facing multiple cases of homicide.

The accident happened just three days after a family of five heading to church died when a passenger van accidentally bumped their multicab (small light truck) along a major road in Palo, Leyte.

The multicab was maneuvering to the other lane near the church when hit by the fast-moving van heading to this city on Nov. 9. (PNA)
