MANILA – Pro-life advocates are set to hold an interfaith prayer and march for family, life and peace in Mandaluyong City on Dec. 8, in commemoration of the Feast of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception.

Prolife Philippines Foundation president Bernard Canaberal said Friday the occasion is a good opportunity for the community to come together to promote the importance of life and fight against any type of evil that harms humans.

"Those who are advocates of pro-life and those who are in the family and life ministries in parishes and whatever religious denominations please join us, this gathering is much attuned to the realities of our lives these days,” he said in an interview over Church-run Radio Veritas.

The event will begin with a Mass at 7 a.m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Ortigas Center to be followed by a march to the EDSA Shrine.

Canaberal added that an ecumenical prayer would also be held as representatives from various religious denominations would also join the event.

The theme of this year's gathering is "A Walk of Gratitude for Life, the Filipino Family and Global Peace" in recognition of issues that concern everyone's life.

Meanwhile, Parañaque Bishop Jesse Mercado, president of the Family and Life ministry of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) and spiritual director of Prolife, is hoping that Christians would unite towards activities that will add value to the lives of the people.

"Actively participating in this momentous event, it is our opportunity to come together, united by our devotion to life, family and world peace and to send a powerful message of hope and unity in the Lord," he said in a statement. (PNA)
