PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan – A vehicle carrying Vice Mayor Beltzasar Alindogan of Kalayaan town and two tricycles figured in an accident in Quezon town, some 146 kilometers away from this city, on Sunday morning.

Initial investigation showed that the vice mayor’s service pick-up was cruising along the Barangay Sicsican highway when one of its tires burst, causing it to swerve, collide with two tricycles and fall on its side.

Councilor Maurice Phillip Alexis Albayda confirmed that Alindogan and the passengers in his vehicle were unharmed.

However, he could not ascertain the condition of the passengers of the two tricycles.

“We helped them. I think there were four elderly and five minors involved in the incident,” Roteryo Salazar, owner of one of the two tricycles, said in Filipino.

Albayda said that Alindogan and companions were on their way to Barangay Berong in Quezon town in southern Palawan at past 6 a.m. to welcome residents returning from Pag-asa Island in the West Philippine Sea when the accident happened.

"He made a stop at Barangay Berong in Quezon town to drop off his family at the Kalayaan Resource Center. However, somewhere along Barangay Sicsican, the service vehicle’s tire burst, causing the accident,” he said. (PNA)
