MANILA – Customs officers at the Port of Clark stopped an attempt to export PHP7.507 million worth of shabu bound for New Zealand.

Port of Clark District Collector Erastus Sandino Austria, in a statement Wednesday, said the cargo declared as “shaft drive model” was seized on Jan. 3

It came from Parañaque City and was initially tagged as suspicious by X-ray Inspection Project personnel.

Austria said the shipment immediately underwent K9 sniffing and physical examination, which resulted in the discovery of three packs of white crystalline substances weighing 1.1 kilograms concealed inside a shaft drive.

Results of the chemical laboratory analysis of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency confirmed that the substances were shabu, a dangerous drug under Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Austria has issued a warrant of seizure and detention against the subject shipment for violation of RA 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act, in relation to RA 9165. (PNA)
