MANILA – Antipolo City and Laoag City will host the Philippine Teqball Federation (PITEQ) activities for the first quarter of 2024.

“The technical committee will supervise both events to ensure the promotional and technical aspects are properly applied,” PITEQ secretary general Peter Paul Soliman said on Monday.

The PITEQ, which is headed by Tarlac sports patron Victor Yap, organized the 1st Cainta Teqball Championships last year.

Fifty players from Laoag City, Tarlac, Montalban, Taytay and Cainta joined the tournament, with Laoag-based John Dale Bartolome winning the men's singles title over teammate Rylee Sy, 12-9.

Teqball is a fast-rising European spectator sport played on a curved table, combining elements of sepak takraw and table tennis.

With the support of the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) and the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the national team participated in the 2023 Cambodia SEA Games where teqball was introduced as a demonstration sport.

The PITEQ also sent athletes to the Koh Samui tournament in Thailand and the World Championships in Bangkok last November. (PNA)
