MANILA – The Philippine Postal Corp. (PHLPost) is set to open its first Kadiwa pop-up store at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City on Friday.

“Ang Kadiwa ay para sa mga empleyado at residente ng mga komunidad upang mailapit sa kanila ang mura at de-kalidad na pagkain alinsunod sa utos ng ating Pangulo Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. (The Kadiwa store is for the employees and residents of the area so they could purchase quality food following the order of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.),” PHLPost Postmaster General Luis Carlos said in a statement on Thursday.

Carlos noted that the PHLPost also wants to support the farmers and small business owners as “it works closely with the Department of Agriculture (DA) to address the country’s food security issue.”

The PHLPost has already set up Kadiwa stores in Olongapo City; San Fernando, Pampanga; Tarlac City, and Mariveles, Bataan.

Potatoes, assorted highland and lowland vegetables, fruits, rice, eggs, balut, penoy, salted eggs, bottled products, chicharon bagnet, smoked fish, dried fish, and bottled juices are a few of the food commodities sold in Kadiwa stores.

The PHLPost and the DA have been expanding Kadiwa outlets across Metro Manila and other areas to empower farming communities through the establishment of a direct and efficient food supply chain. (PNA)
