MANILA -- The operator of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1), Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), has appointed Juan Alfonso as its new President and Chief Executive Officer.

Alfonso, who previously served as the Chief Operating Officer of AboitizPower Corp. subsidiary Aseagas Corporation, replaced Rogelio Singson, who was reassigned as LRMC Board Director.

Alfonso also served as the Senior Vice President of the Corporate Services of AP Renewables, Inc. of Aboitiz Power, where he was responsible for Accounting, Finance, Legal, HR, and Strategy, having more than 25 years of working experience in the Philippines and the United States, according to a statement of the LRMC.

The rail line operator lauded Singson for the various improvements that were implemented in the LRT-1 during his leadership.

"His study and observations of the passenger traffic and behaviors at LRT-1 stations paved the way for the increased number of trips, reduced queueing time and improved passengers experience,” the LRMC said.

Singson served as the Secretary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) during the administration of President Benigno Aquino III. (PNA)
