Carpenter yields 11 sachets of ‘shabu’ in Bataan buy-bust op

BALANGA CITY, Bataan -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) on Wednesday arrested a carpenter and confiscated 11 sachets of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Hermosa town, this province.

PDEA agent Marlou Ordona said carpenter Ronel Matilde, 47, of Hermosa was caught in the act of selling illegal drugs in Barangay A. Rivera of the same town.

He said the operation was conducted by PDEA Bataan and the Hermosa police.

Ordona said it took them two weeks to conduct surveillance after receiving report that the suspect was into dealing drugs.

Recovered from suspect were 11 pieces of small heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white substance suspected to be methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu placed inside a cigarette pack.

Also confiscated was a marked PHP1,000 bill.

Ordona said the suspect now faces a charge with violation of Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, a non-bailable offense.  (PNA)
