CALAMBA CITY, Laguna -- The police is now investigating the shooting incident that killed a Grade 10 student and injured a barangay (village) councilor morning of March 21.
Police said the incident happened at around 9:30 in a car wash shop in Barangay Palo Alto, this city.
Calamba City police officer-in-charge, Supt. Reynaldo Mendieta Maclang, said they are now investigating the incident based on witnesses accounts and that of the injured Palo Alto barangay councilor, who os now in stable condition at the Global Medical Center.
Maclang identified the fatality as Mark Jones Almazan Soriano, 16, a resident of Pacific Hills, Barangay Palo Alto while the injured was identified as Alejandro Dimapilis Aguilar, 45.
Initial investigation disclosed that the Grade 10 student Mark Jones was standing in front of the car wash shop when the two assailants appeared from nowhere and shot him to death.
Councilor Aguilar, who was also in the area, was hit twice on his right shoulder.
The assailants immediately fled after the incident.
The Regional Crime Laboratory Office (RCLO-4A) recovered from the crime scene four cartridge cases, two deformed bullets, and two spent ones.
Maclang said an investigating team of police officers has been formed, composed of SPO1 Lilly Ann Deris, PO2 Ryan Mercado, PO1 Zidney Manglo, and PO1 Arvin Magcawas. (PNA)
