CLARK, Pampanga -- Jetstar Asia officially began its direct flights between Clark International Airport (CRK) and Osaka with 188 passengers on board on Tuesday morning.

Jetstar Asia CEO Barathan Pasupathi, also on board the flight, thanked Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC ) officials, led by its president, Alexander Cauguiran, for the warm welcome as he pledged to contribute to the increase in the number of passengers using CRK.

“As the only airline flying direct services between Clark and Japan, our travel partners tell us that visitors and business travelers will be able to take advantage of our low fares and the convenient schedule spread over weekly and in the weekend. We know from experience that low fares stimulate demand and increases the number of people taking flights. As more and more Japanese businesses establish themselves in Clark, Jetstar is well-positioned to support travel between the two countries,” Pasupathi said.

“With the Philippine government’s ongoing infrastructure program to convert and develop the New Clark City metropolis, this will present Jetstar the opportunity to be a key aviation partner for change here,” he added.

“Clark International Airport is now being aggressively pushed by the administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte as Asia’s next premier gateway,” Cauguiran said.

The new Clark-Osaka flights, he said, will not only boost CRK operations but validate its marketability and viability as an international hub.

More than 20 million residents of central and northern Luzon may choose to fly from Clark International Airport or in Manila as well, where Jetstar Asia also has flights, Cauguiran said.

“Jetstar continues to deepen our presence in the Philippines with this route as the airline will now operate up to 44 services to Osaka, Nagoya, Narita, and Singapore from Manila and Clark,” he added. (PNA)
