LUPON, Davao Oriental -- The town’s police force here will soon be moving to their new home in Barangay Bagumbayan after the newly-constructed police station was turned over by Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Ronald dela Rosa.

Police Regional Office (PRO) 11 Director Manuel Gaerlan said the construction of the three-floor building was funded under the regular infrastructure development of the PNP.

The PHP4.7-million building is located in a lot donated by the local government of Lupon.

Gaerlan said the Lupon police station building project was just one of the 60 police stations in Davao Region that will be constructed by the PNP.

There are only 10 remaining projects which are up for bidding. Among those for bidding are the Cateel Police Station in Davao Oriental and Sta. Cruz Police Station in Davao del Sur.

Policemen in Tagum City in Davao del Norte, Don Marcelino in Davao Occidental, Matanao in Davao del Sur, and Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental will soon be transferring to their new homes too. The cost of each police station depends on the class of municipality and city, Gaerlan added.

Dela Rosa during the turnover ceremony on Saturday afternoon advised all Lupon police personnel to take care of the building and immediately repair even the minor defects.

“Consider our building as our home,” he told police personnel. Most of all, Dela Rosa advised the police to maintain the “police culture of Davao” by displaying good and service-oriented attitude.

If not, he said, everybody should level up to continue gaining the respect of the community. (PNA)
