MANILA -- Centro Manufacturing Corp., the country’s leading truck body assembler, expressed optimism that the Duterte administration's Build Build Build program would generate fresh demand for heavy equipment.
Centro Chief Financial Officer Jerryme Garcia said the government’s ambitious infrastructure program had spurred forward the construction industry as well as its support industries, thus creating more opportunities for both local and foreign investors.
The truck assembler cited a BMI Research report that the country’s construction industry is expected to grow by 11.8 percent this year, sustaining a double-digit growth of 12.7 percent in 2017.
It also noted that nominal value of the construction sector is seen to nearly double by 2022.
“This will surely invite more domestic and foreign investments and generate millions of jobs through construction and in support industries. Centro is keen in supporting the construction boom by introducing complementary products for the construction industry, such as cranes of various sizes, capacities, and applications,” said Garcia.
He said among their products that could prove particularly useful in the government's construction activities is the Hiab 320T telescopic crane, which had three to five booms.
The product is produced by Hiab, a leading European crane manufacturer. The 320T has lifting capacity of 34-ton meters, with a maximum working radius of 19.6 meters and a maximum working height of 20.8 meters or almost as high as a seven-storey building.
Centro will be displaying its latest products at the 14th Manila International Auto Show on April 5-8 at the World Trade Center, Garcia added. (PNA)
