15 Danish firms in town seeking biz opportunities

MANILA -- Fifteen companies from Denmark are seeking to find business opportunities in the country particularly in sectors of food, healthcare, utilities, and counseling and investment services.

Danish Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Brian Mikkelsen is personally leading the business mission consisting mostly of executives from the Danish firms. The delegation will be on the hunt for opportunties here from May 7 to 11.

The companies taking part in the business mission include, food ingredients and processing firms AAK Denmark A/S, Arla Foods, CT-Technologies ApS, Essentia, Novozymes A/S, and Palsgaard; sustainability, waste water, and energy firms Danfoss, Inc., Grundfos Holding A/S, and Vestas; healthcare companies Abena Holding A/S, GN Hearing, and Novo Nordisk A/S; and investment and counseling companies EKF, IFU, and Væksthus Hovedstaden.

On Wednesday, Mikkelsen met with Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Ramon Lopez to discuss trade and investments opportunities between the two countries. Mikkelsen expressed that Denmark aims to be part of the development happening in the Philippines particularly in the Build Build Build Program of the Duterte administration, Lopez revealed.

Data from the European Union (EU) showed that bilateral trade of the Philippines and Denmark grew by 10 percent in 2016 to €168 million from €153.1 million in 2015. As Denmark is part of the EU, some 6,274 products from the Philippines can enter Denmark duty free via EU Generalized Scheme of Preferences Plus. (PNA)
