Peso, PSEi end the week lower

MANILA -- Both the Philippine peso and the local stock barometer ended the week in the red as the sluggishness in the local financial and capital markets persisted through Friday trading.

The peso ended the day’s trade at 52.33 from Thursday's finish of 52.27.

It traded between 52.27 and 52.36, resulting in an average of 52.32

Meanwhile, the Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSEi) dipped 0.28 percent, or 21.84 points, to close at 7,672.28 points.

The broader All Shares was down by 0.30 percent, or 13.80 points, to 4,664.94 points.

Half of the sectoral indices registered declines, led by Mining and Oil, which dropped 1.64 percent; followed by Holding Firms, 1.25 percent; and Industrial, 0.37 percent.

The Property, Financials, and Services posted increases of 0.54 percent, 0.25 percent, and 0.10 percent, respectively.

Total volume reached 1.306 billion amounting to PHP4.216 billion.

Losers led gainers at 115 to 86 while 53 stocks were unchanged. (PNA)
