Bulacan police nabs 205 under 'Oplan RODY', drug campaigns

CITY OF MALOLOS, Bulacan -- A total of 205 individuals was arrested by the Bulacan police as part of “Oplan RODY” (Rid the Streets of Drunkards and Youths) and drug campaigns on Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning.

Reports reaching Senior Supt. Chito Bersaluna, acting Bulacan police director, said 172 were nabbed under Oplan RODY and 33 in buy-bust operations.

Of the 172 arrested in the cities of Malolos; Meycauayan; San Jose del Monte; and in the towns of Bulakan; Bustos;  Calumpit; Marilao; Obando; Pandi; Paombong; Plaridel; Pulilan; and San Miguel, 74 were minors nabbed for violating curfew hours; 58 for drinking liquor in public places; 39 for loitering the streets in unholy hours; and one for not wearing shirt in public place.

Police brought to the custody of barangays the 76 violators; 58 to their respective parents;  26 were given stern warnings;  and 12 persons were held in the police custody for investigations.

Oplan RODY is President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to authorities to step up their campaign against bystanders whom he viewed as "potential trouble for the public."

On the other hand, the 33 drug suspects were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in the City of San Jose del Monte;  and the towns of Balagtas; Bocaue; Calumpit; Norzagaray; Hagonoy; Bustos; Guiguinto; Obando; Marilao;  Pandi;  Angat; and Sta Maria.

A total of 78 plastic sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, and buy-bust money were confiscated from the drug suspects. (PNA)
