SAN JOSE De BUENAVISTA, Antique -- The Provincial Disability Affairs Office (PDAO) is encouraging persons with disabilities (PWDs) to register so they could avail of services and assistive devices from the local government.

PDAO head Paolo Castillo, in an interview on Wednesday, said that based on their records, 8,592 PWDs have already been registered in Antique province.

“We have an online registration,” he said.

He said PWDs who may need assistance in their online registration may go to their respective Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office so they could be assisted.

Last week, Antique’s Provincial Board has approved PHP1.3 million in supplemental budget for the PDAO so it would be able to acquire new assistive devices, such as hearing aids, canes and wheelchairs, to be distributed to the PWDS.

The board has also approved PHP100,000 for the computerization of the PDAO.

Soon PDAO will have a new building for it to become fully-functional. (PNA)
