P880K shabu seized, 2 peddlers nabbed off Bicol waters

LEGAZPI CITY -- Anti-narcotics operatives seized on Friday PHP880,000 worth of suspected “shabu” and nabbed two drug personalities during an anti-drug operation conducted off the waters of Sula channel in Bacacay town in Albay, a top official of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Bicol said.

Arrested were Ariel Barcelon alias Ayie and Bernardo Dayto both from this city, PDEA regional director Christian Frivaldo said.

He said the suspects was sailing on board a motorized banca from Barangay San Roque here at about 9:15 a.m. Friday and was bound for the island town of Rapu-rapu when it was intercepted by a joint team of PDEA special enforcement team on board a Philippine Navy vessel off the waters at the vicinity of Port Sula channel at the Albay Gulf.

Frivaldo added that the raiding team was tracking down Barcelon to serve a warrant of arrest when during the arrest, operatives found 130 grams of “shabu” with a street value of PHP880,000 packed in six plastic sealed sachets alongside with other drug paraphernalia at the suspect belongings.

"Barcelon is a high-value target listed in the PDEA drug watchlist while the other suspect was a drug courier not yet included in the list." he said. (PNA)
