ILOILO CITY -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has already opened 77 Negosyo Centers (NCs) in Western Visayas, making the delivery of services to micro, small and medium entrepreneurs more accessible.
DTI regional information officer, David Israel Sinay, said in an interview Friday afternoon that “those who are interested to establish business can seek consultation at the NC.”
“They need not go to the DTI provincial office. Instead, they can just visit the nearest Negosyo Center. There they can be guided on how to start their business,” Sinay said.
The NC helps facilitate easier registration of business names and access to information, and develop a more client-friendly environment to micro, small and medium enterprises.
The 77th NC, launched in Barotac Viejo in Iloilo last Thursday, is the ninth of the 22 target NCs to be established in Western Visayas this year.
From 2014 until the end of December last year, 68 NCs were established in the region. As of July this year, the NCs have already served 52,468 clients in Western Visayas.
The Negosyo Center is launched in partnership with local government units. It’s either that the LGU will approach the DTI or the latter will “encourage the LGU to put up the NC.”
“One major consideration is the counterpart of the LGU, which is the place,” he said.
The establishment of a Negosyo Center in all provinces, cities and municipalities is mandated under Republic Act No. 10644 or the Go Negosyo Act to “promote ease of doing business and facilitate access to services for MSMEs within its jurisdiction.” (PNA)
