PUERTO PRINCESA CITY, Palawan -- Three Palawan towns have been nominated for final evaluation by the Department of the Interior and Local Government’s (DILG) Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) search for 2018.
The three nominees for final evaluation are the southern Palawan towns of Narra, Brooke’s Point, and Sofronio Española.
Mario Daquer, DILG provincial director, said Monday the towns are nominated for displaying strong and responsive local governance.
“We hope that these three towns win again in the search. We will see to it that they are able to submit their requirements on time,” he said.
Last year, the three municipalities were also recognized with Puerto Princesa City for raising the bar of local governance in Palawan.
Daquer said they were among the municipalities that passed the evaluation of the DILG in 2017 for the SGLG after completing their infrastructure projects on time.
For the 2018 search, he said the criteria for 2018 is more challenging because it will cover financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection, peace and order, business friendliness and competitiveness, environmental protection, tourism culture, and arts.
Daquer added the innovated "all-in" assessment criteria of SGLG are expected to demonstrate positive results from local government units, which they also hoped would work to excel and improve their governance. (PNA)
