LEGAZPI CITY -- A high-value target drug peddler was killed while a total of PHP350,000 worth of suspected “shabu” (crystal meth) was seized in separate drug operations in Naga City on Tuesday, a Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Bicol report obtained on Wednesday showed.

Killed was Alvin Sta. Isabel, 38, of Barangay Peñafrancia in Naga City, a high-value target (HVT) tagged as No. 4 on President Rodrigo Duterte's drug watch list, according to Christian Frivaldo, PDEA acting regional director.

Bicol police spokesperson Chief Insp. Maria Luisa Calubaquib, on Wednesday said a drug sting against Sta. Isabel was conducted at the latter's boarding house in the said village around 2:10 p.m. Tuesday.

Sensing that he was transacting with a police poseur buyer, Sta. Isabel drew his .45-caliber handgun and fired at the lawman forcing the other operatives to retaliate killing him in the process.

Policemen recovered 10 heat-sealed plastic sachets of suspected shabu worth PHP10,000 from the suspect.

In a separate drug operation, also in Naga City, PDEA and police agents collared Jose Lamtecson Vasquez of Barangay Triangulo; Jonathan Padires 53, alias Boyet of Naga City; and Romel Cea alias Bong from Magarao town in Camarines Sur.

In the said drug operation around 7:35 p.m. Tuesday inside a subdivision in Barangay Pequeña, operatives recovered inside Vasquez's residence a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing 50 grams of suspected shabu with a street value of PHP340,000 and other illegal drug paraphernalia. (PNA)
