CAMP GEN ALEJO S. SANTOS, Bulacan -- Two drug personalities were killed and 20 other suspects were arrested in simultaneous anti-illegal drug operations in this province Wednesday.

Bulacan acting provincial director, Senior Supt. Chito G. Bersaluna, identified the fatalities as Jhon Carlo Maglanque Alias “Chukoy,” from Barangay Poblacion, Baliwag, Bulacan, and a certain “Jun”.

Bersaluna said Maglanque was killed after a brief exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police operatives headed by Supt. Marlon Santos, Baliwag chief of police.

“The said operation stemmed from a report that the suspect was responsible in robbing a disabled person (mute) three months ago and was also an alleged supplier of illegal drugs,” Santos said.

Recovered from the scene were a Black Widow caliber .22 revolver without serial number and loaded with three pieces of ammunition; four pieces heat sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance suspected as shabu; a coin purse; and PHP500 marked money.

Bersaluna said based on the Santa Maria police, the other suspect known only as Jun was killed after engaging police operatives in a firefight at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday.

The suspect resisted arrest causing a commotion between him and the poseur buyer. The former then pulled out a caliber .38 revolver and fired at the police officer but missed.

Meanwhile, the arrest of the 20 drug suspects resulted from the simultaneous police operations conducted in the towns of Bustos, Calumpit, Hagonoy, San Ildefonso, San Rafael, Plaridel, Santa Maria and in Meycauayan City.

Bersaluna identified them as Reynold Corbito, Edna Calceta, Orlando Del Rosario, Gilbert Corpuz, Mark Angelo Reyes, Aldrin Flores, Meynard Japsay, Nadia Datuin, Alvin Lozano, Rodolfo Sotto, Dennis Sotto, Michael Barican, Michael Delos Reyes, Jam Ramos, Eliza Caugiran, Bobby Digueño, Roderick Santiago, Glenn Bernardino, Jobel Serapio and Rodolfo Salazar.

A total of 37 pieces of plastic sachets of suspected shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia and buy-bust money were confiscated from the suspects.

The seized pieces of evidence were brought to Bulacan Provincial Crime Laboratory Office for appropriate examination while criminal complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) are being prepared against the arrested suspects. (PNA)
