HAGONOY, Bulacan -- Members of Bulacan’s rescue team recovered Wednesday the bodies of four persons who drowned in a private fish port in Barangay Sto. Rosario, this town the previous day.

The victims were identified as Jonas Florentino, 17; Paul Andrew Reyes, 17; Oliver Ramos, 20; and Robert Silvestre, 26, all residents of Purok 4, Barangay Sto. Rosario.

Based on a report, Florentino dove into the shallow end of the river to catch fish near the fish port at about 5 p.m. Tuesday.

When Florentino did not surface, Ramos and Reyes also dove to rescue their companion but unfortunately they too drowned.

Ramsey Manalo Reyes, member of the rescue team, said the bodies of Ramos and Reyes were found first during their search and retrieval operation conducted Wednesday.

“The body of Reyes was first found by the rescuers around 8 a.m. at the left side of the river near the port and after two hours, the body of Ramos was found at the right side of the river,” he said.

Reyes said the fourth victim, Silvestre, joined the search for his friend Florentino, but drowned as well.

Silvestre’s body was recovered at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday while the body of the first victim, Florentino, was last found by the rescuers at 6 p.m. also on Wednesday. (PNA)
