Agri products showcased in regional technology forum

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela -- The Department of Agriculture regional office opened Thursday the 1st Regional Technology and Investment Forum at the DA-Cagayan Valley Research Center in San Felipe village here to showcase the region’s agricultural products from its major crops.

DA-Cagayan Valley Regional Executive Director Narciso Edillo told the Philippine News Agency that developed or processed products from rice, corn, mungbean and peanuts are displayed and sold by exhibitors to visitors, guests and clients.

Edillo said the department has been giving technology assistance to processors and investors in line with the forum’s theme, ”Research and Development Big-One Output Towards a Real Business-Oriented Technology Upscaling".

“The DA would be of help to our agricultural processors, investors and producers. We salute them for being parts of the country’s economic development,” he said.

Among the agricultural products showcased in the forum were rice-corn blend, cafe bagga (rice coffee), noodles, "crack-nik", silky sip, vacuum fried mungbean sprout, instant munggo noodles, munggo soup, mungbean milk, peanut cookies, butter, roasted peanut coated with malunggay and turmeric and peanut balls.

The department’s book titled “Taking Strides Towards Successful Farming (Compendium of Matured Technologies from 2015-2017)" was also launched during Thursday’s event. (PNA)
