IMUS CITY, Cavite -- The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) here is set to conduct its monthly raffle at Bayang Luma Tres village on Aug. 31, Friday, in a bid to control, if not to eradicate the city's plastic residual waste.

Imus CENRO chief Antonio Bernan dela Cruz said Thursday that prizes at stake include rice, groceries and small home appliances like flat iron, oven toaster and rice cooker.

“Para hindi na mapunta sa mga ilog, drainage system, i-surrender na lang nila, me premyo pa (so it will not go to the city’s riverbanks, drainage systems, they can surrender it to us, in exchange for a prize),” said dela Cruz.

Imus CENRO is looking for plastic bags, metallic foils, shampoo and laundry sachets, cigarette foil, tetra packs, including candy and biscuit wrappers.

This promo is open to all villages in Imus. Every kilo of plastic is equivalent to one raffle ticket.

The city government, through its CENRO, conducts a monthly raffle every last Monday of the month, the venue of which “depends on the requesting village.”

Those who fail to win in the monthly raffle are still included in the grand raffle every December, where bigger prizes at stake include home appliances like television set, refrigerator, among others. (PNA)
