MANILA -- A total of 148 out of the 152 aspirants who filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COCs) for senator made it to the initial list of candidates for the May 2019 polls, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Tuesday.

The Tentative List of candidates may be viewed at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) website, http://www.comelec.gov.ph/?r=2019NLE/ListsOfCandidates).

“The tentative list of candidates will be posted for purposes of checking the name to appear on the official ballot,” the Comelec said in Resolution No. 10420.

“Aspirants are encouraged to check their names to appear on the official ballots,” it added.

The four names that were removed from the list are Akbayan Party nominee Vivian Moreno and Robel dela Cruz, Carmelo Carreon, and Alan Maco, all are running as an independent candidate.

In a text message to reporters, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said these individuals have withdrawn their COCs.

On Monday, the poll body has released the list of candidates for party-lists, governors, vice governors, provincial board members, mayors, vice mayors, and councilors. (PNA)
